Games involving animals are among the most popular and, from a speech therapy perspective, the most effective. Through them, children learn to expand their vocabulary, both passively (I understand when I hear the name) and actively (I can name the animal myself). Each animal is an opportunity not only for naming, but also for further speech development: “The dog barks, the cat purrs, the rabbit hops.” In this way, the child acquires new verbal connections and learns to form simple sentences. The speech therapist recommends asking the child: “Where is the giraffe? What colour is it? What is the lion doing?” This helps to practise speech comprehension, active expression and combining words into short sentences.
