The ‘Spot the Intruder’ game helps build vocabulary and the ability to describe things accurately. Children can name the pictures (“I see a dog, I see a house”) and, when explaining why something doesn’t belong with the others, practise sentence structure (“That’s different because…”). Parents can enrich the game with questions such as: “What do most of the pictures have in common? What is different about this one?” – this helps practise categorisation and logical thinking in speech.
