Wooden animals are a great stimulus for speech development. Children spontaneously name the animals, create stories (“The lion is looking for the zebra…”), practise adjectives, prepositions (“under the elephant”, “next to the giraffe”) and action verbs. The game “Where’s the animal?” is also brilliant – the child searches for the animal whilst practising description and logical thinking.
