Product detailed description
My First Book About Food offers a playful and accessible look at nutrition for the very youngest children. Karolína Fourová created it in collaboration with illustrator Lukáš Tomek from the duo Tomski & Polanski, and together they have produced a book that effortlessly answers curious children’s questions such as ‘Why do we have to eat?’ or ‘Why can’t we just eat sweets?’.
The book is aimed at children aged 3 and over and offers the perfect opportunity for shared reading. It helps build a healthy and positive relationship with food from an early age – without scare tactics, bans or complicated rules. Thanks to its simple language and playful illustrations, it naturally draws children into the subject and opens up space for family conversations about food.
What makes this book exceptional is how sensitively and entertainingly it manages to introduce the complex topic of nutrition to children. It builds on the author’s previous work and her long-standing efforts to educate the public about healthy eating – this time, however, in language that even the youngest children can understand.
The result is not only a beautiful book, but also an important first step towards forming healthy habits and a relationship with food that can stay with children for life.
About the author
Karolína Fourová is an engineer specialising in nutrition and food quality and the author of the bestsellers The Only Book on Food You Need and The Nutritious Book on Food. She studied nutrition in prevention and food chemistry, but she herself says, with a touch of humour, that she prefers to hold a whisk rather than a pipette. In her work, she combines expertise with a love of food and shows that a healthy approach can be simple, understandable and sustainable all at once.
