Music-themed puzzles are an excellent tool for developing speech and imagination. Each animal with an instrument encourages naming and description: “the tiger is playing the guitar, the panda is drumming, the fox is singing”. Whilst putting the puzzle together, I recommend developing vocabulary related to music and forming simple sentences: “There is a violin in the picture, the violin plays beautifully”. Children naturally expand their vocabulary and learn to describe a scene, which is important for expressing themselves correctly and forming coherent sentences. The puzzle also promotes concentration and patience, as the picture is created gradually and the child realises the relationship between the parts and the whole.
